Blackjack Basics – Part 1

[ English | Deutsch | Español | Français | Italiano ]

The general concept of the card game is to be assigned cards totaling up to twenty one. Every gambler is handed two cards. When a black jack player is handed a 9 or lower value card and an Ace they have been given a soft hand. When the gambler is dealt no Ace it is referred to as a hard hand. Once the cards have been dealt every player at the table, which includes the dealer, every player is given the chance to make 1 of six choices:

Taking another card (Hit): When a black jack player says "hit" the croupier will deal them another card, if the adding of that card causes the value of the hand to exceed 21 the blackjack player will have lost and be excluded from the game, if the card pushes the value of the hand to twenty-one the gambler will be the winner and if the value of the hand has not yet reached twenty one they are still in the game.

Keeping the hand you’ve been dealt: If a player is happy with the hand they’ll stand. Once this has happened the croupier will reveal his or her cards and the blackjack player who has accumulated 21 or the closet to twenty one will come away with a win.

Doubling Down: A player might ask to double down which increases the wager by 100% they have laid. Once you’ve taken this procedure you can only be given one additional card. The specifics of doubling down are often specified by the table or betting house game rules so prior to competing be sure you are comfortable with the casino rules. If you are playing at an internet betting house this is usually very easy.
